Instruments for Microwave Accelerated Chemistry

Resonance Instruments continues to actively work with university and pharmeceutical research laboratories to provide customized microwave instrument systems for microwave enhanced and microwave accelerated chemistry.

The typical instrument system includes a microwave power generator, a flexible interconnecting cable, and a remote applicator.

The generator and its companion programming, the interconnecting cable, and the microwave applicator are customized to the users requirements.

User applications include radiopharmeceutical discovery, plasma research, rapid solvent removal from reagent processes, and microwave assisted surgery.

Customization has included low and high power systems, accurate power control, custom applicators for accelerating reactions in microliter volume systems, and systems with temperature and/or pressure controls.

Model 510 Economy System for Microwave Accelerated Chemistry

Model 510 is the bare bones instrument for the economy minded user. The output power is controlled through knobs and switches according to a calibration chart and the cycle time is set with thumb wheel switches.

An analog meter monitors the anode current in the magnetron. Output power maybe continuously controlled from about 10 Watts up to about 120 Watts by a 1 turn control knob. Cycle time may be set from a minimum of 10 seconds up to 990 seconds on a thumb wheels.

One reaction cavity is provided with each instrument.

No PC control is possible with this instrument.

Model 520B Intermediate System for Microwave Accelerated Chemistry

Model 520B is an intermediate instrument with advanced power management capability. The output power and cycle time are set either by a front panel keyboard or through remote programming. Program parameters can be saved and automatically recalled..

A digital meter monitors the forward and reflected microwave power as well as the anode current in the magnetron. Output power maybe set from about 10 Watts up to about 120 Watts and adjusted upward or downward in 10 watt increments while the power cycle is on. Cycle time may be set from a minimum of 1 second up to 600 seconds.

One reaction cavity is provided with each instrument.

Remote monitoring and control of all functions and parameters is implemented though an RS232 serial port.

Model 521 Advanced System for Microwave Accelerated Chemistry

Model 521 is the most advanced instrument with the most quality minded features. In addition to the features found in the 520B we have added an Infrared Thermometer to the system to monitor and proportionately control the temperature at the surface of the reaction vial.

The instrument may be operated in power mode with the same power monitoring functions as the 520B or in temperature mode. In temperature mode the user sets the desired temperature and the maximum output power. When a control cycle is initiated, the instrument applies the maximum power until the temperature reaches the set value and then proportionately controls the temperature until the cycle time ends.

One reaction cavity is provided with each instrument.

Remote monitoring and control of all functions and parameters is implemented though an RS232 serial port.
