The Model 8320A is a general purpose magnetic field controller. With continuous feedback from its Hall-effect sensor the 8320A provides 16-bit regulation and control and is easily interfaced to most any electromagnet's power supply. The Hall probe always produces a voltage signal in direct proportion to the magnetic field and regulation is provided by continuously monitoring this voltage and comparing it against the user-selected value.
Four operating parameters Sweep Width, Field Center, Scan Time, and Number of Scans are selectable from the front-panel keypad or by a serial RS232 interface from an external PC. The maximum field setting, scan range, and time between scans will be determined, of course, by the size and performance of the actual magnet and power supply used.
